Dave Limp, the Vice President of Kindle at Amazon, has just announced that Amazon doubled the amount of Kindles sold during Black Friday and Cyber Monday from last year. The post-Thanksgiving weekend has apparently been the best weekend ever for Kindle. Amazon said the following about its Black Friday weekend:
“Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fires have held the top 4 spots on the Amazon worldwide best sellers list since launch, and that was before the busiest shopping weekend of the year. We’re excited that customers made this Black Friday and Cyber Monday the best ever for Kindle worldwide—Cyber Monday was the biggest day ever for Kindle sales, and we’re looking forward to millions of customers opening a new Kindle this holiday season.”
Though Amazon was quick to boast about how it’s reached another Kindle milestone, its has yet to release any sales figures. We’re not joking, not one sales report. They could have sold a dozen of these this time around and we’d have no idea at all. Amazon has never actually released Kindle Fire sales numbers to the public, which has caused some unsettlement in the tech community.
Am I the only one that thinks that Amazon is hiding something? Twelve up from six is technically doubling its numbers, right?Follow @macgasm
