iPad to be available in nine more countries

There are some among the Apple community who live outside of the countries that can currently get the iPad without having to pay a premium and acquire the device on the grey market. Well the grey market sector is about to get a bit smaller and the countries that are able to get the device locally is expanding.

On Friday, July 23rd, Apple announced that the following countries will be able to get one of these specially crafted ‘magical’ devices: Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore.

That’s right, the iPad. With the addition of these nine countries, the number of countries with the iPad is doubled to eighteen total. This will probably drop the grey market in these areas to almost non-existent, except when initial supplies run out.

One thing Apple did not let anybody know about is the pricing for these countries. My guess is that this will come tomorrow (Tuesday) with the Apple store being down for it’s somewhat regular Tuesday updates.

Apple users who wish to grab their own iPad in these countries can do so at their local Apple store or Authorized Apple Reseller. Apple does acknowledge that additional countries will be added later this year and pricing for those countries will be announced later as well. So if you’re still in an area that does not have the iPad, you can wait or attempt to get one on the grey market for a premium.
