Google Chrome Update For iOS Brings Better Voice Search

Following a number of recent updates to the desktop and Android versions of Chrome, today was iOS’s turn for some love.

Update 27.0.1453.10 brings with it a couple of new features, most notably, improvements to voice search. Google has now brought over the promised conversational voice feature that it recently unveiled at its I/O conference, which has Chrome speak the answers to certain search terms back to you without you having to even read the results. Users can also now search using their voice directly within Google Chrome without having to use the Google Search app. Google promises that voice recognition is now faster than ever before.

Here’s the complete update description:

Improved voice search!

  • Say what you want and get results back without typing
  • Faster voice recognition with text streamed on the fly
  • Get answers spoken back to you with web results tailored to your questions

Faster page reloading

  • Pages reload faster even when the network is slow or unavailable

Stability / security improvements and bug fixes

If you and Siri ever fight, you can now always go spend some time and talk to Google.
