Nokia’s Here Maps Pulled From The App Store

Nokia has pulled Here Maps, its mapping app, from the App Store. The app has been removed due to iOS 7 changes that “harm the user experience.” Nokia hasn’t said anything beyond this regarding the app’s removal except for the fact that iPhone users can still use Here Maps on the web at m.here.com.

Nokia on Here Map’s removal:

We have made the decision to remove our HERE Maps app from the Apple App Store because recent changes to iOS 7 harm the user experience. iPhone users can continue to use the mobile web version of HERE Maps under m.here.com, offering them location needs, such as search, routing, orientation, transit information and more, all completely free of charge.

Here Maps has been on the App Store for roughly a year. The app prided itself in having a great 3D experience, point-of-interest list, and public transit information. While the app did all of these decently, and actually had really nice public transit maps, the app’s interface always felt a little off to me. If you’re a Here Maps user on iOS, we’d highly recommend upgrading to Google Maps.
