It’s Friday, and that means it’s time to take a look at some awesome apps for each platform: iPhone, iPad, and Mac OS. Today, we’re focusing on video, news, and Instagram.

iPhone/ iPod touch:
Action Movie: This app lets you add Hollywood effects to your videos using your iPhone’s camera! All you have to do is select the FX, snap five seconds of footage, and wait† for it to render. Then share the video with friends and family or just save it in your camera roll. The app is free for a limited time and comes with two effects: missile attack and car smash. However, you can buy more effects and bundles through in-app purchasing. So give it a try! Just don’t send the final video to the elderly. Just saying.

iPad:
Zite: Zite — your personalized magazine. It looks at what’s interesting on the web. Millions of stories are looked at each day to find out who’s sharing them, how they’re sharing them, if they’re bookmarking them, commenting, etc., to get a general idea of what’s important. Then, it decides what to deliver to you, the reader. This is done through content analysis; what the story is about, what style it was written in, its length, and so on. All of these attributes are compared to the kind of content you like to read. By comparing the stories it gets back to the categories you selected as interesting, and then Zite populates your screen with great content. The best part? It doesn’t end there.
