iPad 3 has left the building, en route to US

The package has left the building. According to sources in China, the iPad 3 is already being shipped to the US to meet an alleged March 7th release date. A shipping manifest has shown up online (in Chinese) showing iPad 3 devices moving from Foxconn to New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

If true, the shipments could mean that the iPad 3 will be available almost immediately after its announcement in the US.

There haven’t been any invites sent out for a March 7th keynote from Apple, yet. So, as it stands, the dates tossed around the Internet could easily be wrong, despite what journalists are speculating and ‘confirming’ over the last couple of weeks. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more on the announcement date.
