Dashboard Widgets and Growl Support.

I’ve been having a pretty interesting discussion with @mbuckbee (on twitter) about a new application he’s developing and the integration of Growl notifications. Now, I’d like to think of myself as a pretty savvy internet/mac user, but I had no idea growl updates could even be put into a dashboard widget. How cool is that!

Anyway, Mike sent me a link to his application, Watchlister, which I happily tried out. Upon installing his widget, I realized the Growl Updates that were popping up had a dashboard icon, instead of an application Icon. So here’s my question to you.

  1. Would you like to get growl updates integrated into more Dashboard Widgets?
  2. Do you think that the Icon of the Growl Updates should be The Logo for the application, or dashboard? As a user would you know that this application was a dashboard item if the Icon was of Dashboard? Would you realize if you only got a couple updates from the widget every month?
