Assassin’s Creed is an iPhone Adventure

In Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles ($4.99), you play an assassin who is sent on a mission to find the “Chalice.” The Templars, your enemy, is in possession of the Chalice, and you must get it out of their hands before it’s too late.

Indeed, Assassin’s Creed is one of the most magnificent 3D iPhone/iPod touch games in the App Store. Throughout the game, in your quest to get the Chalice, you’ll find yourself jumping through obstacles (besides just your enemies). Altair must jump from wall to wall, avoid poisonous snakes, jump over knives that are coming out of the ground, and swing on ropes among other things to get to where he must be. And even though you might find that he’s a master at the sword, there are always enemies that are stronger than he is, so you must think of better strategies to proceed.

You’ll also find yourself wanting to kill more and more enemies, though my biggest initial frustration was when I tried to run through some seemingly tough obstacles (after orb 68 in the first stage, you might be stuck – hint: restart the mission). But despite the challenges, all of which make the game really fun to play (and much longer!), you’ll notice that Assassin’s Creed is a must-have with its realistic 3D graphics and easy to use controls.

Of course, if you want to try it before you buy it, give the free edition a whirl. But the lengthier one does steal the show.
