A U.S. court has lifted a temporary ban on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 that was placed on it prior to the Apple versus Samsung patent trial over the summer. Samsung is now allowed to sell the product in the United States.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a slightly older model, but the lifted ban could still help Samsung during the holiday season. Samsung said of the lifted ban: “We are pleased with the court’s action today, which indicates our position that there was no infringement of Apple’s design patent and that an injunction was not called for.”
Samsung and Apple continue in their patent battle, as Samsung has just added eight new patents against Apple’s iPhone 5. It all began last year when Apple sued Samsung in a number of countries, prompting a counter attack from Samsung who subsequently sued Apple.
The injunction was placed on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 ahead of the month long trial between Apple and Samsung in August. However, the jury found that Samsung did not violate the patent that caused the temporary injunction and Samsung argued for the sales ban to be lifted. The ban is now dissolved.
Apple could not be reached for comment.
