Apple’s 2012 Back To School Promotion Is Live: Here Are The Details

We reported on some changes in Apple’s back-to-school summer promotion last week, and today the deal has finally gone live. Apple has indeed added iPads to the promotion alongside the Mac this year, but the perks are slightly different for each of the devices. If you’re going back to school, you’re a parent of a student going to school, or you’re an academic staff member at any grade level, you’re eligible for the nifty little perks when purchasing a Mac or iPad of your choice.

This year Apple is giving each student a gift card that they can use to purchase apps, books, music, movies, and other App Store perks. If you plan on purchasing an iPad, Apple will give you a $50.00 gift card. If you plan on buying a Mac, Apple will give you a $100.00 gift card.

The deal runs from today through to September 21, 2012, and applies to MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, iMacs, and all iPads. There’s no direct mention of the Mac mini or Mac Pro, which is curious. So, if you plan on purchasing either of those machines, make sure you ask an employee in-store about the promotion to see if it applies to your purchases.
