55,000 Quotes, All For Free

Whether you’re a trivia buff, a history major, or just someone who likes to utilize both sides of your brain every now and then, you may have a bit of fun with the 55,000 Amazing Quotes app.

The app is for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and even the iPad (gotta love that for all you early adopters out there).

Here’s what you get:

  • 55,000+ quotes
  • 7400+ Authors
  • 1500+ Categories

You can start up the app and have access to this wealth of knowledge without the need of an internet connection. The 7400+ authors and 1500+ categories is very nice. Also, you have a range starting with A.A. Attanosio and the quote of “Being human is the most terrible loneliness in the universe.” Hmm, not very uplifting. If I do a scan of the categories and go all the way down to the Z’s I hit Zodiac, and the quote there is, “We need not feel ashamed of flirting with the zodiac. The zodiac is well worth flirting with.” Now THAT’S more like it!

When you do have an internet connection, the app allows you to share the quote with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, or via email. You can also get more detailed information about the author of the quote. There’s a copy mode, that allows you to paste your quote into your clipboard and edit it prior to sharing with your friends. There’s also a favorites mode so you can mark the quotes you like the best.

55,000 Amazing Quotes is developed by Khalil Slimi, who is part of the Pixelka development team. It appears that they have atleast two other apps in the App Store.

My concern, I wonder what happens after you’ve scrolled through all 55,000 quotes? No mention is made of auto updates to keep the app fresh.

Outside of that, if you want to read some clever sayings and share them with your friends every now and then, check the app out. It’s free, and in the App Store here.
