TurboTax comes to the iPad: good luck with your 2010 filings

Well, it’s about that time again. The Tax man is just around the corner, looking to grab some more of our hard earned cash. If it wasn’t for end-user friendly filing systems, I’m not sure many of us would make it through the deadline year after year.  As of today, we can now file our taxes using an iPad.

TurboTax has just taken the next step in Tax filing: they’ve brought their application to the iPad. The app will take you through the process step by step for free. You won’t get charged until it’s time to file (starts at $29.99), but the app isn’t snafu free either. Given the lack of filesystem access, you won’t be able to import previous year’s applications into your app; instead, you’re forced to start fresh, and file from scratch. It seems like a bizarre choice, however, since you are able to sync this year’s file data between the computer and the iPad.

As it stands, the application seems to only be available in the U.S. App Store, so if you’re outside of the US, you may just be out of luck this time around.  If you see it in your App Store, let us know in the comments.
