Rdio For iOS Gets Slicker With New Update

Rdio rolled out a few minor enhancements to their iOS app today. The new update has taken major steps towards making the app easier to use.

Users can now simply hold their finger over any piece of music to pop up a menu that lets you sync, share or bookmark the song. This is done to provide a much more fluid experience as opposed to navigating through multiple icons and menus to access the same options. Smart move.

The update also adds a small indicator in the bottom right corner of album artwork to indicate whether the music is synced to your mobile device or simply in your collection. If it’s synced, an orange icon will show up, and if it’s in your collection, you’ll see a green icon.

This is the first update in what Rdio claims will be one of several throughout the year. While it doesn’t change too much, small changes that improve navigation are huge when it comes to music streaming apps.

Here’s the full update list:

  • Long Press. Hold your finger on a piece of music to share, sync to device, add to playlist, or Play Later.
  • Improved Design. Continued usability enhancements make it easier to browse and interact with content.
  • Badges. Easily see what music you’ve added to your Collection or synced to your device.

It’s worth grabbing the app when you get a chance.
