OUYA Hits Stores In June, Retailers To Include Amazon, Gamestop

OUYA, the Kickstarter funded Rubik’s cube sized Android gaming console, finally has a release date. The $99.99 console will be arriving sometime this June and people interested can start pre-ordering today.

Retailers that have signed on to stock the console include the likes of Amazon, Gamestop, Best Buy and Target. People can also buy the console directly from the OUYA website and customers that do this will receive their console at a significantly earlier time in April. Those who helped back the $8.5 million cost to fund the Kickstarter project will get their OUYAs the earliest, with their systems beginning to be shipped to them in March. Additional controllers will also be sold for $49.99 each, a high cost that is attributed to the controller’s touch panel.

While OUYA sounds exciting in premise, we will still have to wait and see if the system can deliver on the most important part when it comes out; being backed by good games.
