Concept: A new iOS notification system based on the iPad 2 Smart Cover

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise when I say that Apple’s notification system needs a lot of work. I spend more time these days cursing notifications than I do using them. It also shouldn’t be much of a surprise that Apple knows exactly what we’re thinking about the notifications. Heck, they’re probably thinking the same thing. Over the last year they’ve hired WebOS talent to address the notification problems. But, I’d like to state publicly that they should hire Robin Raszka. He just solved notifications on the iPad.

Robin has done a lot of great work over at Tapmates, and we’re a big fan of the stuff they do, but I have to say, Robin’s taken it to a whole ‘nother level today. He’s taken the iPad 2 and the Smart Cover, and used them to address the notification problem. The results are so simple and stunning that it seems like something Apple would do. Check out the video.
