Politicians May Have Their Wish, Foxconn Heading Stateside?

Why aren’t more products made at home? That was on the minds of plenty of political pundits leading up to the presidential election earlier this week. It seems some may be getting their wish to bring more manufacturing jobs stateside for the first time in a very, very long time. Apple’s partner, Foxconn, is now rumored to be looking into opening a manufacturing plant in the US sometime in the near future.

According to — gasp! — Digitimes, the company famous for making Apple products has begun working on a training program that would bring US engineers to Taiwan or China where they would learn the design and manufacturing processes at Foxconn. Furthermore, the publication also suggests that Foxconn has begun conducting searches and “evaluations” for factory space in the US according to Slashgear.

This one, if true, may take quite a bit of time to actually roll out and be realized. We wouldn’t expect to see Foxconn USA open in quite some time, possibly even years from now.
