Apple Responds To iOS 6 Maps Complaints

After iOS 6 was released yesterday, some users expressed their unhappiness with Apple’s new Maps app. And since the app is cloud-based, some users are having some speed issues with Maps as well. Because of this, Trudy Miller, an Apple spokesperson, released a statement on the issue to AllThingsD:

Customers around the world are upgrading to iOS 6 with over 200 new features including Apple Maps, our first map service. We are excited to offer this service with innovative new features like Flyover, turn by turn navigation, and Siri integration. We launched this new map service knowing it is a major initiative and that we are just getting started with it. Maps is a cloud-based solution and the more people use it, the better it will get. We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better.

While I’m personally a fan of the new Maps.app, there are definitely some areas that need improvement. For instance, since I often commute on my bike, I would really like bike directions to come back to Maps for iOS. I would also like to see some sort of “street view” embedded in the application, though Flyover is pretty cool.
