Larger iPhone Confirmed As 5 Rows of Icons Appear in iOS Simulator?
If you’re hoping for a larger iPhone screen, this news should brighten your day. The iPhone simulator that is included with Xcode, an application development suite for OS X, has leaked a five row iPhone home screen. 9to5mac has shared the photos above, which show an iPhone home screen with five rows of icons. As of right now, this would only be possible if the rumored new iPhone with a taller screen was released. And while none of this has been confirmed by Apple, we can be pretty sure the next iteration of the iPhone will feature a larger screen after this leak in the iPhone simulator.
And while this all might sound great as of now, 9to5mac reports that they had to make some minor tweaks to the iPhone simulator in order to make this work. 9to5mac reports:
Thanks to some tweaks to the iOS Simulator application that is included in the iOS development tools, we were able to run the simulator at the rumored next-generation iPhone display resolution of 640×1136.
At other resolutions, the icons will scale to an iPad-like home screen layout, not at the proportions and spacing of the current iPhone and iPod touch display.
Do you think that this possible “leak” in the iPhone simulator means anything, or is it just a hack? Let us know in the comments.
