Apple’s new “Genius” ads took a lot of heat when they aired. The commercials involved an Apple “Genius” helping regular people with their Macs in a bunch of different settings. The commercials were being aired during the Olympics’ first weekend, but have now been pulled. You can see them on YouTube here, here, and here.
According to Apple’s advertising agency, TBWA/Media/Arts Lab, the spots were only scheduled to do a “first run” during the opening Olympics weekend. Mashable reached out to the advertising agency, but it remains unclear if the advertisements will eventually find their way back onto the television at a later date.
Given the public backlash, we wouldn’t be all that surprised if the ads get tossed on the scrap heap and never see the light of day again.
