iWork.com to close down in favor of iCloud

IFIGHT

Today, Apple sent an email to all members of the iWork.com public beta informing them that the service will be shut down this summer in favor of saving documents online via iCloud.

Apple’s email to iWork.com beta users:

With a new way to share iWork documents between your devices using iCloud, the iWork.com public beta service will no longer be available. As of July 31, 2012, you will no longer be able to access your documents on the iWork.com site or view them on the web.

If you were actually using this service, please make sure that you log in and download all of your documents before the service shuts down. The last thing you want is for everything to poof out of existence on August 1st because Apple is shifting its online strategy. Get it done now — don’t wait! If you put it off, you might just forget to do it.

Did you actually use the service for online document storage? Are you upset that you have to move all of your documents to iCloud, or is this better for you? Sound off in the comment section below this post. Even better, hit us up on Twitter. Our handle is @macgasm, and we love to hear from our readers. Let us know what you think about Apple’s focus on moving everything to iCloud.
