Adobe finally going to let CS3 and CS4 users upgrade to CS6
Until today Adobe was only letting CS5 users upgrade to CS6. The original goal was to sell users of CS3 and CS4 the CS5 edition for a 20 percent discount, and then let them upgrade to CS6. Yeah, that wasn’t going over well with Adobe’s customers.
In an announcement on the Adobe blog today, the company has decided to overturn its original decision:
With these great new releases coming in the first half of 2012, we want to make sure our customers have plenty of time to determine which offering is best for them. Therefore, we’re pleased to announce that we will offer special introductory upgrade pricing on Creative Suite 6 to customers who own CS3 or CS4. This offer will be available from the time CS6 is released until December 31, 2012. More details on this offer, as well as any introductory offers for existing customers to move to Creative Cloud membership, will be announced when CS6 and Creative Cloud are released later this year.
There you have it. If you’re looking to upgrade to CS6, you’re not going to have to go out and purchase CS5 first. It’s nice to see a company doing right by its customers, instead of looking for ways to line its pockets. Well done, Adobe, well done.
