Square’s Dorsey vaguely hints at Apple tie-in for his service

It could be played off as silly fun, or it could something a little bit more. A playful tweet by Square and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey seems to be hinting at an interesting Apple tie-in for Square.

The tweet, in all of its shortness, included an interesting instagram photo of an apple cut up, and superimposed with the square logo. The tweet simply read, “Apple @Square”.

As the original Electronista article points out, there has been some overlap between Square and Apple in the previous weeks. Apple highlighted Square in their “year one” video, and Square just called a special event for May 23, 2011.

They are also speculating that Square could be part of the Apple Store 2.0 revamp that we’ve been hearing about during the last week, possibly bringing the Square readers to all the Apple Stores in the future. Again, this is all speculation, so take it for what its worth.
