Reminder: Bumper case giveaway ends September 30th, 2010

Reminder: Bumper case giveaway ends September 30th, 2010Apple’s going to be sealing up their vault, faster than Disney after a release, on September 30th. So, if you’re hoping to procure yourself a free bumper for your non-existent iPhone 4 antenna problems, you’re going to want to act fast. You should also keep in mind that you can get a case from some of their partners instead, if you don’t like how Apple’s bumpers look. Oh, you should also stay away from the white ones. We hear that they get gross pretty quickly.

Personally, I don’t see a need for one, nor do I believe there’s an actual problem. I’ve yet to hear anyone up here in Canada complain about it, so I’ve taken to pointing my fingers straight at AT&T—but, no one’s going to ask them for a free year of service, are they?

So, Apple’s decided to drop some updates on their iPhone 4 Case Program page. It reads, “We now know that the iPhone 4 antenna attenuation issue is even smaller than we originally thought. A small percentage of iPhone 4 users need a case, and we want to continue providing them a Bumper case for free.” We figured that this was going to happen immediately after they announced the program. The free bumper window should have been enough for them to have addressed the issue.

Here’s the real kick from the site: “For everyone else, we are discontinuing the free case program on all iPhone 4s sold after September 30, 2010. We are also returning to our normal returns policy for all iPhone 4s sold after September 30. Users experiencing antenna issues should call AppleCare to request a free Bumper case.” I can sum this up a lot better than Apple: “Get off our lawn!”

All joking aside, we’re happy to see that Apple’s got the problem on lock down, and the over-hyped issue is finally over.

We're testing out a new service called Spread.Us. Help us share our stories!

I personally believe that they should give the bumpers out for free at least until the iPhone 5 comes out or they fix the antenna problem, whichever comes first.

I'm still holding out to see if any other US carriers get the iPhone. I may just wait until the next gen iPhone comes out. My 3G works just fine.

I've talked to a lot of people up here in Canada about the iPhone 4 antenna problem, and the response I get is that you definitely lose signal strength, but you never drop a call. I'm seriously contemplating an upgrade from a 3G phone to a iPhone 4
