Xcode now available in the Mac App Store

Apple is giving another example of where it hopes to take the future of software. Xcode 4 is now available in the Mac App Store.

Xcode4 is Apple’s Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that is used to develop iOS and Mac applications. The 4.24GB download includes the SDKs for iOS and Mac.

There are a couple of new features that truly improve the software tremendously: the addition of Git and Subversion for version control and the addition of full support for C++ in addition to C and Objective C.

Unlike previous versions, Xcode4 does cost $4.99 and is available in the Mac App Store now. Developers can still download Xcode via their developer account and install it manually.

Xcode4 is quite an improvement over previous versions. Additionally, I guess this means the NDA is no longer valid and we should expect walkthroughs and reviews quite soon.
