If you’re like me, then you’re all about making things easier and finding shortcuts for doing them. And if you like using the right side of the Dock to quickly access files then this will be a great and useful tip for you. Here’s a way you can email files right from your Dock, without having to actually find them in Finder.
All you have to do is hold down the Command button while you drag a document or file that you want to email out of your Dock. When you do, you’ll notice that the Dock shortcut will still be there, but you’ll be dragging a new icon. Next, let go of the Command key and drop the file on the Mail icon in your Dock. And, almost like magic, you’ll have Mail create a new message for you and automatically attach the file.
Here’s a couple of other little tips too. Instead of dropping the file on the Mail icon, you can drop the file into Finder and it will make a copy of it. And, similarly, if you just Command-click any file from the dock, it will show the item in Finder instead of opening it.
Quite a bit of time can be saved on a daily basis if you can commit these to memory.
