Show Folder Sizes In Finder Once And For All

If there’s one thing that leaves me scratching my head with OS X’s Finder, it’s the lack of a display for the size of folders and subsequent files within them. It drives me crazy.

Yesterday, on LifeHacker, there was a snazzy little tip that turns on the size readings and I thought I’d pass it along.

  1. Open a Finder window
  2. Switch to List View
  3. Click on the Gear icon
  4. Click on Show View Options in the menu
  5. Check the box titled, ‘Calculate All Sizes’

Why this isn’t on by default absolutely boggles the mind.
