Ars Technica received a PR email from the company called Sir Lancealot. Pretty normal for a tech blog, right? Well, yes, but the email claimed that the company’s “Holy Grail” iPhone 5 screen shield was made of bulletproof glass. Naturally, the blog wanted to test this claim.
First, the blog tested the screen shield by hitting it with a hammer, a screw driver, and even running it over with a car. All of these tests passed just fine, leaving the iPhone unharmed. Then came the bullet test. Needless to say, the screen shield didn’t do much, allowing the bullet to go all the way through the iPhone. The blog caught all of the action on video too, and you can view it above.
Stupid marketing lingo strikes again.
