There are a lot of think pieces out there about the state of development on iOS, and specifically how you can make money in the App Store. Threes was a huge hit as a paid app, but faced problems with rampant cloning. They eventually retooled the app to be a free app with ads. Polygon shows reports from the company that they’re making more money as a free app than as a paid app. It’s interesting, and runs against a lot of the narratives going around in the press.
