Turns Out The iPad’s Smart Cover Can Kill, Turns Off Implanted Defibrillators

It turns out that Apple’s innovative Smart Cover might be more dangerous than its colorful appearance would tell.

14 year old Gianna Chien has done a study proving that the smart cover’s built in magnets have a high risk of turning off implanted defibrillators for those with serious heart problems. If someone with one of these devices inside of them falls asleep with their iPad on their chest, it could potentially turn off their defibrillator, putting them at serious risk.
