Team Fortress 2 now free-to-play courtesy of Valve

One of the most popular online games to ever come out of Valve is now free-to-play — Team Fortress 2 is now available to all, for free, for freakin’ ever. How cool is that? You’re probably asking yourself the exact same thing I did: what’s the catch? No catch, the game is free for all. All you have to do is download Steam, and then download Team Fortress 2, and you’re off to the races.

But, if you’re one of those suckers who actually paid for the game you’re not left out either. Valve has created premium accounts for anyone who has ever purchased the game.

From Valve’s FAQ:

Premium accounts have a few extra features, including access to rare and cosmetic items through random item drops, the ability to store more items in your backpack, and more powerful trading and crafting abilities. Otherwise, the gameplay experience will be identical for both accounts.

Premium accounts will have larger backpacks, standard, rare, and cosmetic items, all blueprints for crafting, full trading capabilities, as well as the ability to give and receive gifts from other users.

Anyone looking to upgrade from a free-to-play account to a premium account can do so by making a purchase at the in-game Mann Co. store.

Guess what I’m doing this weekend?
