Rdio Taking The Fight To Spotify In Europe

Not content with growth in their current markets, Rdio has decided that it’s time to take the fight to Spotify in Europe over the course of this year.

In addition to being available in the U.S., Canada, and a couple of other countries, including the recent addition in Denmark, VP Scott Bagby told paidContent that “[Rdio] will be expanding in all countries in Europe – within the next few months, you’ll see several pop up.”

Spotify, as of September 15th, 2010, had approximately 10 million users and 2.5 million paying customers. Given Spotify’s recent expansion, those numbers have obviously increased. Rdio is clearly looking to pick up some steam and close the gap between themselves and Spotify across Europe.

It’s a good thing, too. From what we’ve seen from Rdio so far, Spotify better watch its back in the next couple of months. Things could get messy.
