Little Printer is cute, tiny, adorable, and THE answer

The printer as we know it is pretty much dead. I can’t remember the last time I printed anything at home. But, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a few situations where a printer may come in handy. For instance, the digital age we live in with iPads and iPhones makes it easier than ever before to manage things like todo lists digitally, but for some of us, printing out small things like directions, quick notes, or grocery lists is still something we like to do. Sadly, dedicating a square foot on my desk for a printer just to print out small notes isn’t exactly something I’m willing to do at this point in the game.

Little Printer, however, not only takes up way less space than a traditional printer, printing on paper the size of a receipt, but it’s also looking like it may be the answer to post-it notes for the digital age.

Little Printer holds a compact, inkless, thermal printer. Its zero-configuration wireless connection to the Web (via the Bridge unit, included) lets you place it wherever you have a power outlet. Little Printer is constructed in high-gloss injected moulded plastic and the brushed steel faceplate holds the paper, framing each delivery as it prints.

I think I’m in love.

Hello Little Printer, available 2012 from BERG on Vimeo.

The idea of having a printer server in the cloud, managed by BERGCloud, is an interesting one. At this point in time, it looks like the Little Printer’s service will be managed by BERGCloud, but it could be interesting to see what happens if they open their API up to app developers.

Inputting my todos into an app is seamless, but I still get quite the satisfaction from checking off my todos on a piece of paper. If I could get my daily todo list printed off at the click of a button from an app like Things, OmniFocus, or Wunderlist, then the Little Printer would be the best mashup between digital and analog that we’ve seen in a while. There are a lot of things that apps are good for these days, but doodling on your todo list isn’t one of them.

Little Printer currently is not on sale, nor are they taking pre-orders. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more from the BERGCloud team.
