Opera has just announced a new web browser for iOS and Android that goes under the name ‘Ice’. This announcement was given via an internal video, which we’ve embedded above. Ice is WebKit-based and features a gestured interface that does away with the need for back buttons, etc. One notable feature includes a central page with links to commonly used websites like Bing, Reddit and Facebook. Another cool feature is the ability to search multiple websites at once. For instance, you can start a search and flip between Google, Amazon and Wikipedia results with ease.

Perviously, Opera used the Presto rendering engine to render web pages and has offered pretty “meh” interfaces when it comes to its mobile apps. However, Opera Ice will not completely replace Opera mini, a browser that is currently loved by many users worldwide. We should see Opera Ice debut sometime in February.
