Microsoft granted antitrust approval for Skype purchase

The US Federal Trade Commission granted Microsoft antitrust approval for its purchase of Skype.

The $8.5 billion acquisition is the largest in Microsoft history, and brings Skype’s 145 million users along with it.

While Microsoft hasn’t laid out plans, it is expected that the software giant will integrate VOIP services in future Windows and Office releases.
