Just as we were sitting down to wrap our heads around the news report from the Telegraph that ITV sent Apple a letter about using the trademarked ITV, an update rolled across our desk from The Verge. The Telegraph made it up completely speculated, and ITV did not send Apple a warning about using ITV as the name for Apple’s rumoured upcoming television offering.
From the Verge:
[quote]The Telegraph’s piece is entirely speculative, and there has been no recent communication between ITV and Apple. ITV has no further comment on the matter.”[/quote]
Originally it was being reported that ITV’s CEO Adam Crozier had sent off a letter to Apple warning them about using his company’s trademarks. Turns out that wasn’t true. Go figure.
We’re taking ITV’s word for it.
