iTunes Festival Comes To The U.S. For First Time Ever This March At SXSW

While the iTunes Festival has become an annual event in London, England, Apple has announced it will expanding its popular music fest into U.S. territory for the very first time.

Starting less than a month from now, from March 11 to March 16, a number of popular performers will take the stage at ACL Live at the Moody Theater, in Austin, Texas. The lineup has been confirmed to include acts such as Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Pitbull, Keith Urban, and ZEDD, with more to be announced in the future.

The iTunes Festival will be part of the larger SXSW (South by Southwest) festival that runs in Austin from March 7 to March 16.

“The iTunes Festival in London has become an incredible way for Apple to share its love of music with our customers,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “We’re excited about the incredible lineup of artists performing and SXSW is the perfect place to debut the first iTunes Festival in the US.”

As per usual, viewers at home will be able to stream all of the performances live from their Apple device of choice (or PC!) for free.

It’s still unknown as to how tickets will be distributed for the event. iTunes Festival tickets in London are given out for free via a lottery system, but it might be a different case this time around.

It’s obviously not nearly as big as the month long London festival, but it’s cool to see the iTunes Festival make its way to other parts of the globe.
