Instagram Beware, Twitter To Introduce Photo Filters

Really, who needs Instagram when you can just, you know, add photo filters to the next image you tweet to your myriad of followers?

Right. I thought so too. It looks like Twitter plans to take on Instagram in a big way. According to the New York Times, Twitter is planning to update its mobile applications to include filters for their photographs, thereafter allowing users to bypass the middleman that is Instagram.

Of course, nothing is set in stone just yet. The information was allegedly divulged by people who work in the company — something that may or may not be true.

Still, given that this happened after Instagram’s acquisition, it definitely seems plausible. It seems that Jack Dorsey, the company’s co-founder and executive chairman, and Dick Costolo, Twitter’s chief executive, have been looking to purchase a competing photo service — at least, that’s what certain people have claimed. Again, we’re not sure. As is always the case with these kind of things, nothing is actually legitimate until a formal statement has been issued.

Either way, if Twitter does pick up Instagram-like features, you can be certain that it will be a game changer.
