It’s fair to say that we’ve become a little spoiled in 2013. There are now not just one, but several companies that offer same day delivery services, ensuring that the toilet paper you need can be hastily delivered to you within just hours of ordering it. eBay is expanding the presence of its own delivery service today, eBay Now, by bringing it to desktops for the first time.
While previously eBay Now was only available on mobile, the company has now unveiled its fully formed desktop version, providing users with a nice way to browse through various items and local stores. Users must simply add $25 worth of items to their cart, pay a small $5 delivery fee after that, and then they can expect their items to show up in an eBay delivery car as early as within the hour. Customers are even given contact information for their respective delivery driver in case they need to give any extra information.
Currently, the service is only running in San Francisco, New York, and San Jose, with Chicago and Dallas expected to join the lineup this summer. Coverage of the San Francisco and New York areas were also both expanded today, so if you were just out of the delivery zone now, perhaps you should try checking again.
Some of the service’s major partners include Best Buy, Home Depot, Target, Macy’s and Toys R Us, meaning you can pretty much get anything you want delivered right to your door within the hour, without ever having to even stand up. eBay says that people order everything from consumables because they’re hungry, to air conditioning units on hot days.
