Canon jumps on the Thunderbolt bandwagon, teases 10Gbps video cameras

If you ran out and bought a brand new MacBook Pro in hopes that Thunderbolt products would be forthcoming, it’ll probably please you to know that Canon has started teasing new Thunderbolt equipped camcorders.

According to Electronista, the company has a been hinting that new camcorders are in the pipeline, and it’s now rumored that the cameras would use the technology for high speed video dumping in their HD and Prosumer camcorders.

The 10Gbps port would “bring new levels of performance and simplicity to the video creation market,” Canon’s Video Products Group director Hiroo Edakubo said.

It’s only a matter of time until we start to see a lot of Thunderbolt equipped devices. With a 10Gbps, simultaneous bi-directional transfer speed, it’s hard to pass up the technology, especially in markets where moving HD video happens on a daily basis.
