Twelve South Drops The Bass, Tweaks BassJump Subwoofer For Mavericks

Maybe dropping the bass was a bad joke, because Twelve South isn’t dropping its BassJump subwoofer from its lineup. Nope, the company has tweaked the software to play nicer with Mavericks.

Updates from Twelve South include full headphone detection, as well as a “Retina-ready interface.”

The new BassJump Sound System 2.5 software blends the sound output of BassJump with the output of built-in MacBook speakers, adding bass for dramatically enhanced sound.

This was one of the first products we reviews on the now defunct Macgasm video podcast. The BassJump was great then, and it’s great now. You can buy one now on Amazon (69.99), and if you need a little more booty shaking bass at your desk, I highly recommend picking it up.
