Apple engineer predicts future with Lego

There’re those of us who hang out on the couch after a long day at the office, and then there’re those of us who do crazy things with Lego. Apparently an Apple engineer has recreated The Antikythera Mechanism, a device that could calculate and “predict celestial events and eclipses with unprecedented accuracy,” with Lego.  The Apple engineer managed to reproduce the ancient Greek invention with 1500 Lego blocks.

The mechanism does a bunch of math (clearly I’m not an engineer), and then predicts when the next solar eclipse will occur. It’s pretty amazing what one can do with some Legos these days.
