New Mac Pros Coming Soonish

After Monday’s less than exciting Mac Pro “update“, Tim Cook has responded to an Apple fan’s email regarding the Mac Pro. The user emailed Cook disappointed about the Mac Pro’s minor spec bump and asked the age old question: “When will the Pro be updated?”. He had all the right to ask this question too. The Mac Pro is currently sporting the last generation Intel Xenon processors, old ATI graphics cards and is lacking Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 support.

Tim responded to the email with this simple repsonse: “Our pro customers are really important to us…don’t worry as we’re working on something really great for later next year”. This email confirms that the Mac Pro will either be updated next year or will be replaced with a new pro level machine.

The Mac Pro hasn’t received a major update since 2010 when the Server model was introduced. Most pro users favor the Mac Pro because of its tower design, which houses four hard drive bays, PCI slots and room for up to 64GB of RAM. The Mac Pro also has the most raw power out of all of the Macs and can be configured up to a twelve core Intel Xenon processor.
