Camtasia Updates With Green Screen Support

Camtasia

Camtasia, the popular video production app from TechSmith, has been updated to version 2.1 today. With this bump comes two major new features: green screen and time stretching.

Green Screen

Known to video professionals as Chroma Key, this feature allows you, the special effects director of your own movie, to choose a color and replace it with footage from another source. From a meteorologist showing a weather map to a big budget action film taking place on an alien world, this is a must-have feature, and now Camtasia has it.

Time Stretching

Let’s say you want to slow down a clip to have it play back at half speed. Maybe you want to make this scene play at 1.5x for artistic purposes. It’s not very hard on the video end, but what happens to the audio of your clip? Well, in this update, Camtasia now allows you to stretch the length of your video clip without distorting the audio to the point of being useless. This is a great tool to have in your arsenal, and now it is just another feature in this snazzy video app.

So, how do you get Camtasia? Well, you can try it for free for 30 days to see if it does what you need, but the full app is $99.00 USD. Keep in mind, you’re going to need to be running Snow Leopard or later.
