White iPhones are delayed!

We heard quiet whispers of a problem yesterday when it was reported that there was a shortage of white paint for the iPhone 4, and today we get confirmation from Apple Inc—white iPhones won’t be available on release day.

Memo’s are being passed, and a couple of the companies taking pre-orders seemed to have missed the news, claiming that they’re still taking orders for the white device.

Apple’s confirmed the lack of white phones for pre-order and someone should probably inform all the other companies taking orders today.

We’re not sure what this means for the future, or when Apple might get their manufacturing problems together long enough to get a couple hundred-thousand of these devices out the door. If we had to make an educated guess, we’d say some time around July when the rest of the world will be brought into the fold, but don’t hold your breath on our account.

If you’re hellbent on getting a White iPhone 4 you’re officially left out in the cold. Put the credit card away, and keep checking back daily for updates.
