Good news, iPhone Twitter addicts! Twitter’s official iPhone app has been updated to version 4.1 with new features, and the return of some missing features. Sadly, this update only affects the iPhone version; the iPad doesn’t see any new features.
Perhaps the most useful change is the return of simple copying of the text of a tweet. Now when you tap and hold a tweet, you’ll be able to copy the text once again. Why this was removed in the first place is far beyond the minds of us mere mortals.
Two other substantial changes: One, the addition of swiping to interact with tweets. Now a simple swipe will allow you to retweet, favorite, reply, or go to that user’s profile. Two, they returned the capability to mark all DMs as read. It’s surprising that these features were absent from the 4.0 release. It seems odd, no?
