Tap Tap Revenge 4 out with new songs, 100 free tracks

‘Tis the season for new game releases on iOS, it seems. Hot on the heels of a frantic couple of weeks for game releases, the latest version of Tap Tap Revenge is out today. Featuring a new graphical look, Tap Tap Revenge 4 offers more current hit songs by popular artists like Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Taio Cruz, Jason Derülo, Metallica and others. One hundred free tracks are available to download and play, and there are hundreds more to purchase from the in-game Music Store.

I first got started with Tap Tap Revenge at version 2, which I really enjoyed. Version 3 seemed to be a more commercially focused game, with less free tracks and a bigger push to get you to buy tracks from the store. Since Tapulous was acquired by Disney in July 2010, perhaps they are feeling a little more generous this time around. It’s a welcome change. The addition of Game Center support, with worldwide leaderboards and up to the minute scores is a nice way to keep the competition aspect of the game healthy. Social features such as twitter integration and the ability to ‘like’ tracks and share with others are new.

Also new to the gameplay, in addition to the regular 1 Player and 2 Player head to head modes, is a new Arcade Mode, which adds visual distractions and other bonuses to the game. I particularly enjoyed the “Space Invaders” bonus, which allows you to shoot the balls as they come down the screen rather than tapping them. Fun!

You know, with all these new game releases lately, productivity around here has gone waaay down. Sigh.

Tap Tap Revenge 4 is available now in the iTunes App Store, and is compatible with iPhone, iPod tTouch, and iPad.
