Rumor: GSM iPhone users to get WiFi HotSpot access with iOS 4.3

Hours after Verizon announced the built in HotSpot functionality that would be available with the CDMA iPhone, a rumor started circulating the internet. According to iPhoneHellas.gr, GSM iPhones will also have HotSpot functionality once iOS 4.3 ships later this year.

AppleInsider has noted that the new iOS version (labelled 4.2.5) was already installed on the CDMA iPhones that Verizon was showing off after their press conference today.

Don’t expect this service to be readily available at launch though. It’s already being stated that the HotSpot feature, which allows you to connect up to 5 devices to an iPhone, will only be available if the carrier offers it. Yay.
