Read It Later Rebrands To Pocket, Gets New Apps, Looks Amazing

Just when you thought it was settled, the Read It Later team not only comes out of nowhere with a new name, but it also releases an app that looks pretty damn amazing. Pocket is the real deal. Clearly, things just got a little more complicated in the Read It Later Pocket, Readability, and Instapaper debate.

When your company is sitting at 4.5 million users, with an incease of 2 million year over year, now is as good of a time as any to rebrand your app. But that being said, the major announcement for Pocket isn’t that the application is a drastic reworking; it’s that it’s now free across all major iOS devices, as well as the Android Marketplace Google Play and the Kindle Fire.

The user interface is both cleaner and simpler, which is a huge plus. Pocket now also has video and image filters so you can save those hilarious animated GIFs for easy retrieval later. Pocket is very much the next logical step for Read It Later, and we have to say that we’re pretty impressed with the new designs and layouts so far.

We’ll have a nice review up online once we get to spend some extra time with the application over the next week. So far though, it’s highly recommended that you give the application a download.
