OmniFocus For iPhone Gets Background Syncing, Context Locations, And Email Actions

Task management app, OmniFocus for iPhone, recently received a new update that adds a number of welcome features that make keeping track of tasks easier than ever.

Thanks to the new update, OmniFocus for iPhone will refresh itself in the background. With the new Background Sync feature, you’ll always have the most current and up-to-date information on you at all times of the day. You can add your most frequent locations to the Background Sync list so that the app will automatically sync when you get there or when you’re leaving.

On top of that, new Email Actions bring the added ability to send actions via email, a feature that is already available for the iPad version of the app.

For context locations, your business search results are now retrieved for Apple instead of Google and are now sorted by proximity.

The update also includes some minor improvements, including:

  • Improved copy and paste of Actions.
  • Fixed a couple crashes.
  • Changed the Inbox badge count calculation to match OmniFocus on the Mac.
  • Improved handling of audio interruptions.
  • Added button on Forecast event details to view the event in Calendar.

The new background syncing should give you a taste of what we can expect to see with iOS 7. All of our apps will be able to update themselves so you’ll always have the most up-to-date version of your apps without having to lift a finger.

You can get the new OmniFocus for iPhone from the App Store now for free. If you’re new to the app, though, it’ll cost you a whopping $20.00.
