Netflix now available in the UK App Store

Congratulations, Brits! You finally get to join the Netflix club. At long last, Netflix has launched in the UK and Ireland today. With that comes your very own iOS app for streaming. It’s exciting, we know, but try to hold in your excitement.

Just like the pushers on the street, the first taste is free. A one-month free trial is available so you can get your feet wet. After that, it costs either £5.99 or €6.99 per month for an unlimited streaming account. Of course, you Brits can stream on your computer, smart TVs, game consoles, and set-top boxes as well. Netflix isn’t fooling around when it comes to rolling out the apps to new markets.

It’s certainly interesting to me that Netflix has been expanding substantially lately. Last month, Latin America was introduced to the joys of streaming to your iOS device. Canada only gained access just over a year ago. While Netflix is expected to actually lose money in 2012, it seems like they are laying the groundwork for a substantially dominant position looking forward. If they can get the rest of Europe as well as some quickly developing nations like India, Netflix could be a world-wide juggernaut.

In the meantime, we hope our friends in the UK and Ireland enjoy the service as much as we do here in the Americas. Have fun, and don’t forget to sound off with your first impressions in the comment section of this post.
